At our September 9, 2024 Meeting we heard a presentation about how the Mission Foot Pursuit 5K run raises money for the Mission Cadet Program, the largest cadet program in LAPD. It serves about 150 kids, providing training, uniforms and real world experience, preparing them for the future. The cadet program is not funded by LAPD, but by fundraising and requires a budget of about $45,000. The Mission Hills Neighborhood Council voted for $5,000 to sponsor the Mission Foot Pursuit to help fund the cadet program.

We also heard a presentation by the North Valley YMCA Director, David Hartmire about their plans to provide 4,500 Thanksgiving meals via food baskets distributed through local schools. We voted to sponsor the baskets with a $2,500 grant and invite you to volunteer to help put them together. They need 700 volunteers the weekend before Thanksgiving.
